How to tune a ukulele online

  1. Choose soprano, concert, tenor, or baritone. For the first three sizes, select High G or Low G to match your strings.
  2. Press Start tuning and allow microphone access. Audio stays in this browser.
  3. Pluck one open string at a time and keep the others quiet. Auto identifies the closest target string.
  4. Turn the peg in small steps until the meter says In tune, then check all four strings again.

If access was denied, open your browser microphone setting and try again. You can always tune by ear without a microphone.

Ukulele tuning tips

High G is re-entrant

On standard soprano, concert, and tenor ukuleles, G4 is intentionally higher than C4. Do not lower it an octave unless a Low G string is fitted.

New nylon strings stretch

Fresh ukulele strings may need frequent retuning for the first day or two. Use several gentle passes.

Baritone uses different notes

A baritone ukulele is tuned D3 G3 B3 E4. Select Baritone before tuning instead of using the usual G C E A targets.

Private, browser-based ukulele tuning

Pitch detection runs locally with Web Audio. The site does not record, upload, or retain microphone audio. If microphone access is blocked or unavailable, tap a string on the tuner to hear its reference note and tune by ear.
